Peter, Alexandra, Theroux, and Rudy are not average middle school kids in fact they are far from average. They are fledgelings, the children of immortal and all powerful Centurion warriors who fight against a dark force called the Horde. In their hometown of Boulder, Colorado the fledgelings do their best to appear normal but train in secret with their guardians to one day follow in their parents footsteps and become Centurions. The fledgelings odd friend Ashely who has known them all her life isn't what she seems either. Right before her fourteenth birthday she finds out about her friends. She wonders if she were to expose her true identity if her friends would stay with her or turn against her.
I think this book is interesting and I enjoyed it. I am a little confused on what age this book is intended for because the story seems like something that someone younger could enjoy but there is some harsh language in this book that I feel would only be appropriate for people my age or older. I think it is a funny story but also has some more intense parts. Some parts I feel were a little unnecessary I think anyone in sixth grade who's just looking for something fun funny and a little out of the normal would enjoy this book.
Talking
A few weeks ago rather than reading one long book I read several picture books about people or important events in history. My favorite was Rosie Revere Engineer by Andrea Beaty. This book is loosely based on Rosie The Riveter. I think the message of this book is very cool and I loved the art but I wish there had been a little more information about Rosie The Riveter because it didn't talk as much about the real historical importance as I would have liked. This is about a young girl named Rosie who dreams of being a great inventor. When one of her inventions fails Rosie is crushed and hides all her inventions. This goes on until her grandmother comes to town and shows Rosie that she can't give up on her first try.
A Poem for Poetry Month
In the turbulent and violent atmosphere of 1960 thirteen year old Louise lives and works at her mothers boarding house. Louise has been pulled out of her school that has recently been integrated. That means that black people are now allowed to attend her white school. Louise's mother is part of a group that has assumed the name "The Cheerleaders" although they are far from cheery. They are among the several people that go down to Louise's school to protest integration. They go to whisper death threats and curse and say hateful things to a tiny black 
After her accident Cadence returns to the island to spend another summer with her liars but something seems amiss this time. Cadence's previously sane grandfather seems to have gone insane and her aunts have become very close after fighting for years. Whats more her aunts seem sad and the littles have nightmares about fires and think Cadence is a drug addict. But her liars seem the same - exactly the same. When Cadence finally remembers the truth about what happened on summer fifteen the book takes a shocking twist that will surprise you, upset you, and leave you desperate for more. This book comes to an extremely sad ending and contains crude language. For these reasons I would recommend this book to grades six and up.
